40th Anniversary Show

The 40th anniversary show was held on the 5th of November and was a great success. We saw fantastic demonstrations from the Masters and Instructors of Golden Lion Academy which really highlighted the accumulated skills and experience that the Golden Lion Academy has, and shows what any student can achieve with hard work and dedication to training.

Another rare highlight was the induction of Sifu Arlene as a Master which was held at the end of the night.

There is nothing like being there and experiencing the show live but click here to view some photos highlighting the night.

The Lions Roar - Spring 2011 edition

The spring edition of The Lions Roar is here, and again it is packed with information and great articles.

Dai Sifu explains the new ways in which Golden Lion is going to be distributing informations, which will involve more internet and email (the printed newsletter will still be available on request). Well done to Si Hing Kris and Si Hing Julius on completing their 2nd degree black belt grading, Mathew Dawe gives an account of the grading and how inspirational it was.

The Lions Roar - Winter 2011 edition

Winter is upon us again, good thing the latest Winter edition of "The Lions Roar" is out now full of inspirational stories to keep you motivated to brave the cold and get to class.

Dai Sifu has noticed the improvement in Golden Lion students which is a testament to instructors and students alike as well as a reminder of the school protocol regarding the training halls. SiJie Darlene Beauchamp give a great rundown on the recent trip to the 9th Wushu International Championships (well done to the Golden Lion team who competed, what a great result!).

SiJie Liz Simpson has written about her favorite part of the recent China-Tibet touring trip with the Golden Lion Academy, which was of course the leg of the Journey that went to Lhasa(the capital of Tibet) and of the wonderful people she met there (now is the time to start saving for the next touring trip in 2013). And SiHing Justin Wong gives us a brief rundown of his long journey to earn the title of SiHing at Golden Lion (yep! it involves lots of blood, sweat and tears), Well done.

But there is only so much I can say about the newsletter, please download it now grab a nice hot drink, snuggle down and read it!

2011 Australasian Kung Fu Wushu Championships

The championship was held on Saturday the 28th of May at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Center. The Golden Lion Academy entered a large team of 12 Tai Chi competitors and 12 Kung Fu competitors.

The day ran very smoothly with the organisation and setting up being spot on. No need to worry about missing an event as there were people making sure you knew your event was coming up.
